The ELEA Experiment

Extremely Low Elevation Angle Experiment - 11:40 AM in Europe

This clip is referenced in Chapter 2 describing efforts to enhance the verticals’ low elevation emissions by harnessing the “skin effect” of salt water. Essentially, attempting to energize the surface of the salt marsh to create a far field ground plane surrounding the verticals.

In the clip we are listening to a pile-up of European stations at 11:40 AM Central European time calling an American station on the East Coast at his local sunrise in February, 2019. We are listening in on the action from the European side on a receiver located in the United Kingdom. At the beginning of the clip, an effort by the American operator is made to receive the European signals directly off the phased verticals in the salt marsh—up until local static pops up and obliterates any ability to copy the strongest of them. After this point in the recording, the audio feed is from the receiver located in the United Kingdom.
